IT WASN'T ALWAYS EASY. 

I grew up in a world of chaos, where my parent's schizophrenia consumed my childhood. It was an unpredictable environment that forced me to grow up too fast and robbed me of my innocence. As a sensitive boy, I was constantly on edge, never knowing what each day would bring. The constant state of alertness took a toll on me, and I developed an anxiety disorder that would haunt me for years to come. 

My anxiety was a beast. It was always there, lurking in the background, waiting for an opportunity to strike. It filled my mind with obsessive thoughts and constant worry, making it impossible to find peace. There were days when I contemplated taking my own life just to escape the overwhelming feelings of fear and dread that consumed me.

But despite the overwhelming anxiety, I pushed through it all. I refused to let my anxiety control my life. I used its energy to become a physician, a best-selling author, a yoga and meditation teacher, and even a professional stand-up comedian (no joke!). I accomplished so much, but it all came at a price. 

My anxiety disorder worsened as I got older. It caused me to burn out of medicine, retire early, and struggle to maintain close relationships. I experienced the pain of not one, but two divorces, all because of the overwhelming anxiety and survival physiology that made it impossible to consistently connect within myself or to others.

BUT THEN SOMETHING CHANGED. 10 YEARS AGO, I DISCOVERED THAT MY ANXIETY WAS NOT JUST IN MY MIND.

While living at a temple in India in August of 2013, I had the revelation that my anxiety was no so much about my anxious thinking but was more of a feeling, a state of physiological alarm that was trapped in my body, rooted in the chaos of my childhood. I came to the conclusion that my body held onto this energy of alarm like a "body memory", and it was this remnant of trauma in my physiology that was driving my anxious thoughts and behaviors. It was a breakthrough that changed everything.

As I connected my mind and body and began to heal the frightened little boy inside me, my healing journey began. I learned that true healing from anxiety of the mind comes from resolving the old energy of alarm stored in your body. 

I HAVE MADE IT MY LIFE'S MISSION TO HELP OTHERS UNDERSTAND THIS TRUTH THAT LARGELY REMAINS HIDDEN FROM THE VAST MAJORITY OF PSYCHIATRISTS AND PSYCHOLOGISTS.
